Surrounded by the snow covered peaks of the Pashtunkwa
There is a beautiful lake that is named in honour of a prince
Whose love story has been told for generations ever since
The story of Saiful Maluk and the lovely fairy Badri Jamala
It was fate that brought the young prince to that lake
He thought he was dreaming but he was wide awake
A beautiful fairy was walking on the surface of the lake!
He could not believe what his eyes were seeing!
Who was she, this beautiful supernatural being?
He walked closer and closer to get a better view
That such lovely fairies existed he never knew
When their eyes met it was love at first sight
In secret they started meeting during the night
But soon rumors started to spread like fire
Of their meetings and their romantic desire
One night when Saiful Maluk came to meet his love
The fairy Badri Jamala was no where to be found
frantic with worry for his love he looked all around
He saw some fairies bathing in the lake and asked
"Tell me where did the beautiful fairy Badri Jamala go?"
But they all just laughed and pretended not to know
A kind fairy was upset at seeing the Prince's grief
She told him where his Badri was much to his relief
As a punishment for falling in love with a mortal
She had been confined to the Koh-e-Kaaf range
Prince Saiful Maluk did what any Pashtun would do
For his beloved he fought off an entire army of jinn
One man against many but he was determined to win
And never one time did he have any fear for his life
For the Fairy Badri Jamala was destined to be his wife
Despite all odds he rescued his love and made her his bride
They spent the remainder of their days always side by side
