"Mourning Mountains"

As I look at these mountains
for a few fleeting moments
I am back home
home with my majestic mountains
but then reality
cruel cold reality
slaps me on my face
these are not my mountains
this is not my land
all that I have left
of my majestic mountains
are my childhood memories
memories engraved upon
my Afghan heart
as I look at these mountains
tears start to fall
tears mourning mountains
and a far away land
I once called home
